New Free Resource for the Organic Industry from OMRI and CABI BioProtection Portal
Eugene, OR—October 14, 2025—A new collaboration between the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and CABI BioProtection Portal is helping operators and certifiers more easily identify registered, compliant products for organic use.
Products on the CABI BioProtection Portal that meet the standards for use in organic systems now display the OMRI logo, allowing users to quickly see if a biological control product is approved by OMRI. The OMRI logo, which can now be found on over 160 biocontrol and biopesticide products on the Portal, demonstrates these products have undergone a rigorous review and meet the U.S. National Organic Program (USDA-NOP) standards.
The partnership between OMRI and CABI, enables users to quickly and easily find OMRI Listed® biological control products via the Portal’s search feature (bioprotectionportal.com). Biological control is a method of crop pest and disease control using nature-based compounds - making them safe, sustainable and beneficial for humans and the environment.
“We’re proud to partner on a resource that makes organic choices clearer and more accessible,” says Orsi Dézsi, OMRI’s Executive Director. “By adding the OMRI logo into the CABI BioProtection Portal, we’re giving farmers, certifiers, and suppliers the confidence to choose products that align with safe, sustainable, and truly organic practices.” Available in 50 countries, the CABI BioProtection Portal is the largest free global resource for biological pest management. It offers:
- Search feature: Helps users to find products for crop and/or pest problems in their country.
- Resources section: Provides free expert-reviewed learning materials, including crop and pest guides.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening global access to safe, sustainable tools for organic farming. By combining OMRI’s trusted product review process with CABI’s international reach, and search by crop and issue, organic stakeholders gain both confidence and convenience in finding solutions that align with organic standards and protect the environment.
OMRI is a non-profit independent reviewer of input products for organic use, based in Eugene, Oregon. The company, founded in 1997 by organic certifiers and stakeholders, provides an independent review of input products to determine which are allowed for organic use.
