The Updated 2026 Canadian Organic Standards are Complete

On Friday, March 27, The Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) published updated Canadian Organic Standards for 2026, marking the completion of a three-year revision process. This milestone was made possible through the dedication of the CSGB Technical Committee on Organic Agriculture, the working groups that evaluated public comments, the sponsors of the initiative, and the industry.
OMRI participated in the significant efforts of the working groups and is already well underway with the process of updating our product review policies to reflect the many changes to the Canadian Organic Standards. We plan to publish a new edition of the OMRI Canada Standards Manual© on April 30, 2026, at which point we will send a detailed summary of changes via email.
OMRI staff will begin reviewing products to the updated standards on April 30, 2026, and may request additional information for products currently under review or Listed to the Canadian standards. In the interim, products that are impacted by a change in the standards may be delayed to ensure they are reviewed and listed according to the new standards.
