OMRI Updates NOP and Canada Standards Manuals
Eugene, OR—January 22, 2026—OMRI has revised the OMRI Generic Materials List© (GML) and OMRI Canada Permitted Substances Categories© for review to the NOP and COR regulations.
All revisions are effective January 22, 2026.
Summary of changes:
OMRI Generic Materials List
- Feed Processing Aids (Class LF): We created a new category to accommodate the listing of products used as processing aids in the production of animal feed formulations that do not have nutritive functions in final feed products. These products can be formulated with organic agricultural ingredients and nonsynthetic, nonagricultural materials permitted by the NOP regulations.
OMRI Canada Permitted Substances Categories
- Feed Processing Aids (Class LF): We also created a COR equivalent of the new category to accommodate the listing of products used as processing aids in the production of animal feed formulations that do not have nutritive functions in final feed products. These products can be formulated with organic agricultural ingredients and substances permitted by Table 5.2 of the Permitted Substances List in CAN/CGSB-32.311.
- Microorganisms (sanitizers, disinfectants or cleaners) (Class CT): We created two new categories, one fully allowed and one restricted. The allowed version of the category accommodates products intended to have sanitizing, disinfecting or cleaning functions, or properties that prevent the buildup of bacteria or fungus on equipment used in crop production, such as irrigation lines. The restricted version of the category is reserved for the same types of products that formulate with otherwise restricted ingredients permitted in the crops scope.
