OMRI Announces New Board Members

(August 8, 2011) OMRI (The Organic Materials Review Institute) would like to announce the appointment of Tina Ellor, Gwendolyn Wyard, and Paul Sachs to the OMRI Board of Directors. OMRI, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, is the premier materials review organization for the U.S. organic industry.

Tina Ellor is the longtime Technical Director at Phillips Mushroom Farm. She is also a current member and former Crops Committee Chair of the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB). Gwendolyn Wyard recently became the Associate Director of Organic Standards and Industry Outreach at the Organic Trade Association. She is also a member of the Accredited Certifiers Association Board of Directors. Previously, Wyard worked for 7 years with Oregon Tilth Certified Organic as a Processing Program Technical Specialist. Finally, Paul Sachs is the founder and owner of North Country Organics, a Vermont manufacturer of fertilizers, soil amendments, and pest control products. He is a published author and lecturer on a number of topics related to ecological management of plants and soil.

OMRI extends a warm welcome to these new board members. The commitment they have shown to OMRI and to organics is greatly appreciated.

Founded in 1997, the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers, and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling, and processing. OMRI reviews input products to determine compliance with the National Organic Standards. Acceptable products are OMRI Listed® and appear on the OMRI Products List. OMRI also provides subscribers and certifiers guidance on the acceptability of various material inputs in general under the National Organic Program.
