Direct fed microorganisms as listed by AAFCO must not be from genetically modified sources. All carriers must be organic or have “allowed” status when used in feed additives and supplements fed on a routine basis. See also CARRIERS listings and MICROORGANISMS – DIRECT FED. Feed ingredient additives and supplements must not be used in amounts above those needed for adequate nutrition and health maintenance for the species at its specific stage of life. See Glossary for definition of "probiotics."
