The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is a leading nonprofit organization working to strengthen the organic industry. OMRI operates an internationally recognized evaluation program that reviews and lists input products for use in producing, processing and handling organic foods and fiber. OMRI Listed® products may be allowed for use in operations that are certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program or Canada Organic Regime standards.

Overview of position:

We are looking to fill a key position on our team. The Program Assistant will assist with OMRI’s renewals process, including sending renewal reminders and processing incoming renewals; execute business development campaigns, including coordinating webinars, maintaining contact lists, and reaching out to prospective applicants via phone and e-mail; and provide general administrative support to OMRI’s Review Program. The Program Assistant reports to the Review Program Administrative Manager. Qualified candidates will have excellent customer service skills, a high level of attention to detail, and an ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Major responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service, including answering questions from OMRI Listed suppliers, applicants and prospective applicants
  • Assist with the OMRI renewals process, including verifying that renewal submissions are complete, creating and sending renewal packets and reminder notices, and updating records related to renewals
  • Assist with business development campaigns and prospective applicant outreach, including executing email and phone marketing campaigns to prospective applicants, maintaining contact lists, and facilitating webinars and other outreach activities
  • Assist with identifying and addressing violations in the use of OMRI’s seal, including reviewing the use of the OMRI seal on internet sources, and investigating and documenting potential seal use violations
  • Provide backup for the Applications Coordinator, including providing applicants and potential applicants with detailed information about the OMRI Review Program and assisting applicants and suppliers with submitting their applications
  • Provide administrative support to the OMRI Review Program, including producing reports, scanning documents, taking meeting notes and minutes, processing product changes, processing invoices, etc.
  • Ensure that work done is in line with OMRI’s quality management system, and update procedures and processes as requested
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • 1-2 years of experience working in an office environment preferred
