EUGENE, ORE. (October 26, 2004) The Organic Materials Review Institute
(OMRI), the nonprofit organization that provides technical reviews and
maintains comprehensive lists of materials and ingredients for use by
organic certifiers, growers, ranchers, and processors, offers new
discounts on their primary publications for use in trainings.
“This is a ‘win-win’ offer for our subscribers and the organization,”
explained David DeCou, acting executive director. “The training
participants receive low cost professional materials, while the
training event helps to promote the value of OMRI publications.”
The OMRI Brand Name Products List and
the OMRI Generic Materials List
are now available to subscribing organizations at $6. The two technical
reference manuals are intended to facilitate compliance to the National
Organic Program Rule and are updated at least annually.
In order to qualify for the discount, OMRI asked that the organization
is a current OMRI subscriber and is hosting a training event.
Interested subscribing organizations must send a letter requesting the
discount plus a flyer describing the event to OMRI. Orders must be at
least 50 copies. OMRI can estimate shipping costs for interested
subscribers.
The OMRI Generic Materials List
is a catalog of OMRI's recommendations regarding the acceptability or
unacceptability of the use of over 800 materials in organic production,
processing, and handling. Each material’s status is based on the
National Organic Program Rule and provides the Rule citation.
The OMRI Brand Name Product List
represents OMRI’s recommendations regarding the acceptability of trade
name products for organic production, processing, and handling. Each
product appearing in this list has completed OMRI’s independent Review
Program based on the National Organic Program Rule.
OMRI reserves the right to decide if a particular training event will
qualify for the discount. OMRI asks that requests for the discount be
submitted at least two months in advance of the event to ensure
sufficient time to process and ship the order.
OMRI Publication Subscriptions are available to any individual,
business, nonprofit organization, or educational institution. Prices
vary; check the OMRI web site for the appropriate annual subscription
cost.
