OMRI Seeks Nominees for the Board of Directors

The Organic Materials Review Institute is calling for nominations for membership on the OMRI Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for OMRI’s governance and leadership. The Board meets at least once per year in person, and most meetings are conducted by conference call. Board members are also expected to serve on various committees that also meet primarily by conference call.

Qualifications
The OMRI Board of Directors is composed of members of organizations that represent the various segments of the organic community. The constituencies include organic certifiers, organic farmers, organic input suppliers, organic handlers, and representatives of the public interest. Service on the Board is voluntary and is for a two-year term beginning July, 2003. Members may serve a maximum of three terms.

Credentials include experience in the organic community, current employment or affiliation with a farm or business in the organic industry, with a non-profit organization that works on organic issues, or a government agency that is working with the organic sector. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Organic certifiers and representatives from consumer, environmental, public safety, or animal welfare organizations are particularly sought.

Nominees can submit a letter confirming their nomination and a vita to: Nominations Committee, OMRI, PO Box 11558, Eugene, OR 97440-3758. Nominations can also be emailed to info@omri.org. Put “Board Nomination” in the subject line. Members of the Nominating Committee and OMRI staff will contact the final candidates for more information. Nominations will be considered up until suitable candidates are found.
